JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will report to the Capacity Planning & Management Architect, and will be responsible for, inter alia, the following:

Key Responsibilities: Fibre Infrastructure Planning & Management

Core Tasks:

  • Map & Maintain an up-to-date inventory for all the Company owned and leased Fibres on a GIS mapping system (KMZ, KML, Google maps etc)
  • Map & Maintain Company Landing Station, PoP & customer locations on a Geographical Inventory system
  • Undertake periodic network audit to authenticate Network resources locations from the various NMSes and available BSS/OSS subsystems.
  • Generate high level Fibre extension plans where required for new deployments

Key Responsibility: Reporting

Core Tasks:

  • Provide Periodic reports on Fibre infrastructure outlay, Utilization and related inventory
  • Provide Periodic reports on Capacity related Inventory on ODFs, ports, line cards, interfaces etc
  • Support Senior Capacity Planning Specialist in providing Capacity utilization reports for IP & TX networks
  • Support Senior Capacity Planning Specialist in providing reports on Feasibilities requested from Presales
  • Support Senior Capacity Planning Specialist in providing reports on Cross Connect orders
  • Support Senior Capacity Planning Specialist in providing Purchase requisition reports.

Key Responsibility: Inventory Management, Ordering and Capacity Planning

Core Tasks:

  • Maintain Inventory for all capacity related devices including ODFs, Cards, Interfaces etc.
  • Undertake periodic network audit to authenticate Network architecture and inventory.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory for Capacity (both IP and TX) within the Network
  • Maintain Inventory of all the NNIs and 3rd Party last mile capacities
  • Provide support to Finance by Ensuring that procured fibre and Capacities are properly billed
  • Support in preparing purchase requisitions as required
  • Support in 3rd party ordering of dark fibre and capacity and cross connects
  • Support in Periodic performance analysis of supplier and vendor and suggest feedback on improvements.
  • Support development & implementation of new service offerings by providing the required feedback.
  • Support in the management of any change process required or new project/product implementation

Key Responsibility: Feasibility Requests

Core Tasks:

  • Track all feasibility requests from Presales and escalate where possible till closed
  • Raise any red flag noted in regards to fibre and capacity requirement from feasibility requests
  • Report any noted non-standard request made in regards to feasibilities
  • Answer system resource related queries from internal stakeholders or escalate as required

Key Responsibility: Capacity Forecasting

Core Tasks:

  • Provide capacity forecast from the feasibility requests made
  • Provide any other support as may be required to forecast long term capacity and fibre deployment requirements.
  • Monitor and chart out short term and long term traffic trends for proactive planning and avoid congestions.

EDUCATION

  • Diploma or Degree holder in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or related fields.
  • Optical Fibre Planning, HCNA, CCNA, JNCIA or better

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Total 3 to 5 years of experience in Telecom networks domain.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills for liaising with various internal teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Excellent people management skills for customer and 3rd party contractor support.

​REQUIRED KEY COMPETENCIES/ATTRIBUTES

  • Well Conversant with all Telecom Service Provider Ordering and Operational functions/ Processes
  • Have good understanding of Optical Transmission & IP technology
  • Experience in Physical Fibre Planning & Management for both ISP & OSP
  • Ability to interact and work with vendors, engineers etc in telecommunications domain under different time zones.
  • Experience in the Engineering, O&M functions & network Management of IP MPLS, Ethernet DWDM and SDH networks/technologies.
  • Experience in Operational Support function would be an added advantage
